Basement Waterproofing

Serving Brantford, Niagara, Hamilton, Thorold, Welland and Woodstock. Foundation membrane and drain rough-in for a basement that's taking on water.

Not the same as under-tile waterproofing

This is foundation-level waterproofing: a dimpled membrane (we use DMX AG) applied directly against the foundation wall to channel groundwater down to a drain rather than through the wall, paired with rebar mesh and a proper drain rough-in before the concrete goes back down. That's a different job from the under-tile membrane used in a bathroom or shower, which is a separate, smaller-scale service. If water is actually coming through your foundation walls or up through the floor, this is the one you need.

How the job actually goes

The affected section of foundation is exposed, the membrane is fixed against the wall to direct water down rather than letting it track across the wall face, and a drain is roughed in at the base to carry that water away properly instead of just relying on the concrete to hold it back. Rebar mesh goes in before the concrete pour restores the floor. It's a structural fix aimed at where the water is actually getting in, not a sealant painted over the symptom.

Common questions

Is this the same as sealing my basement walls?

No: a surface sealant sits on top of the problem and often fails once hydrostatic pressure builds behind it. A membrane and drain system manages where the water actually goes, rather than trying to block it outright.

How do I know if I need waterproofing versus a drain repair?

If water is tracking down the wall itself, that's a waterproofing job. If it's coming up through a floor drain or backing up from a fixture, that points to the drain line itself, and it's worth a camera inspection first to confirm which one you're actually dealing with.
